Established in 1970, Sophia Polytechnic has grown into a premier educational institution with two distinguished institutes under its umbrella:
1. Sophia Shree Basant Kumar Somani Memorial Polytechnic

Founded in 1970, it houses two departments:

Department of Art and Design

Courses: Foundation Art, Diploma in Applied Art, and Diploma in Textile Designing.

Recognized by the Directorate of Art, Government of Maharashtra.

A three-year diploma course recognized by the Directorate of Technical Education.

2. Sophia Smt. Manorama Devi Somani College

Sophia Polytechnic is managed by the Society for the Higher Education of Women in India (SHEWI) and is part of the global Sacred Heart educational network. Rooted in the 200-year-old philosophy of education envisioned by Madeleine Sophie Barat, the Polytechnic is dedicated to holistic education and societal transformation.
As a Christian Minority Institution under Article 30(1) of the Indian Constitution, Sophia Polytechnic reserves seats for Christian students but welcomes applicants from all backgrounds, promoting inclusivity and secular values.

Dr. Sr. Anila Verghese:
A Legacy of Leadership and Scholarship
Dr. Sr. Anila Verghese assumed office as the Director and Principal of Sophia Polytechnic in November 2013, bringing with her decades of academic leadership and scholarly excellence.
A renowned historian specializing in the Hampi and Vijayanagara Empire, she has authored or edited twelve books and published over ninety research papers. Her leadership and scholarship continue to inspire generations.
Her journey is a testament to dedication, academic excellence, and an unwavering commitment to empowering young minds.
